Honestly, I hope y'all come over to Fediverse / Mastodon: we could really use a community that gets along like y'all do, and one of you could even start a server specifically for you guys to move to.
I'm just making the rounds right now, offering help to anyone who wants to move over to there.
i have a couple stakes planted in Fediverse, and I get the impression that will be where I end up long-term but it will take some progress on the client and user side that normalizes the full range of ActivityPub's potential that makes it natural to have mixed content types/lengths in the way that cohost has (and tumblr did, to a lesser degree)
There's definitely people working on that, and I've seen a few forks try to implement things like that. I know WordPress has an implementation, though IDK if they're what you're looking for.
Remember that you can always move your account, so if you find a place with long character limits, and you end up hanging out there until someone implements something like what Cohost had on the Fediverse network, you could always move to such a server at a later point.
oh yeah, for sure I know people are working on the problem! I just know it's also a long arc that bends toward it, especially when so many people have come in for, and expecting, fediTwitter or fediDiscord via Mastodon and Misskey
while i can still comment, i jsut wanna yay you really hit it, the minmax of this site was crazy, in spite of any problems that cropped up.
