Kinda bummed to be just getting into virtual pets and after doing a dive into Tamagotchi stuff learning the current trend seems to be turning kinda games as a service-ish. The Tamagotchi Uni looks kinda cute, but it's 60usd for a toy that seems to have a deal of its features on a remote server. Couple that with previously Bandai having had a similar device in the Tamagotchi On with an app they only ran for three years before closing it down in 2022... I'd have to anticipate that'd be about the lifespan of the Uni before its service gets shut down to make way for another device.
I just want cute creatures with cute games that will remain playable no matter what the company does later so ... I guess I'll stick to the more old fashioned devices.
