I sincerely don't understand the purpose of this feature on Youtube.
Why should I allow someone to swipe my videos to make a ~short~, to profit off of the metrics and ad revenue I'd get otherwise? (Irregardless of if I'd personally want adbux.)
It feels like a solution to a problem for a very specific set of users, and the creation of a problem for everyone else, especially because it defaults to on!
