Tonight, I ramble about the many tabletop roleplaying games I've played, or at least have enough experience with to confidently just start talking. Featured in this episode:

  • Lukewarm takes about why D&D is bad
  • Seriously I go on about why I don't like D&D and its peers so much
  • My bias towards Powered by the Apocalypse games
  • A sampling of niche games you probably haven't heard of
  • Me accidentally thinking Shut Up & Sit Down's videos on Spire: The City Must Fall and Heart: The City Beneath were made by People Make Games
  • And more!

Quiet version for those who don't want to mess with their volume settings is available here. Transcript is under the cut (16,443 words; open in a new tab, maybe).

Comparing the response I got to the show trailer vs the response to the episode so far, I'm worried some folks may not have seen the episode release, so: in case you missed it! The first episode of Enthusiastic Rest is now released!

Hi!

I've finally finished listening to it, and that was quite enjoyable.

I didn't listen to it while falling asleep (which is good, because I was in the metro), and I'm glad because it was interesting then entire time. I love a good infodump, and this was a great snapshot of (your view of) what ttrpg are out there.

I especially liked your rant about D&D. I'm pretty much team fuck D&D as well, for slightly different reasons, and it was good to hear in a validating kind of way.
