There's also the scenario of how one day you will happen upon a power tool from a different battery ecosystem that you end up falling in love with, and then try and commit to a two battery system ecosystem for a time before realizing you made a mistake with your first choice oh so long ago and then start replacing every power tool you have with one from the better ecosystem.

Oof, I recently found out that my power tools' battery ecosystem got discontinued, so now I have to be on the lookout for a new set of tools.
yes but also this is still an objectively silly device considering it uses up a whole battery's worth of power for a single cup of coffee
supposedly it'll do "up to three" (3Ah = 2, 4Ah = 2.5, 5Ah = 3) according to makita's product page but yeah it's still pretty silly
the energy required to raise 5 ounces of water from 20C to 100C is 79.25kJ, and 18V * 1.5Ah works out to about 194kJ, not sure how much of the balance is lost in discharging the battery and how much leaks out of the hot water tank

I mean, it's not a useless thing, just a thing that's probably more useful to the company as a funny thing people talk about than a product the very limited target audience actually buys
oh yeah, this is a 12V 2Ah battery, so that's in line with the lifespan figures for the larger batteries
and yeah agreed that it's kind of a novelty
I mean if I had just a sliver of a reason to own one of these I'd but it in a heartbeat

It does stop making sense again when you realise that most jobsites have some kind of power supply available, and cordless tools are generally used out of convenience rather than necessity.
Do pneumatics count as their own battery ecosystem cause I wanna see the gimmick gadget that boils a cup of coffee using one of those five-gallon porta-tanks
