I created this in Ultra Fractal, which has a neat fractal engine plus photoshop layer and editing properties built into it. The formulas I can tweak to add my own spin to the fractal calculations (as well as the color gradients). So this was a bit fun.
I feel like I have a bit more control over the finer details of the fractal with Apophysis 7.x fractal editor menu, as that allows me to combine several different fractals and relate them through geometry. UltraFractal can sort of do this through the coding itself, but it's more finicky (since I'm not the best at coding. I know enough to be dangerous I guess lol). So I may jump back and forth between the two for any fractal projects.
