I think the reason dating apps bother me so much is because you're forced to think about people in a different way than you normally would.
Like, if I see someone I don't find attractive, I don't think anything of it because they're just some person. I'm not trying to impress them or attract them.
But on a dating app, you have to think of people solely as "I'm looking for someone in a romantic sense"... It starts to feel, as my friend Josh said, like a meat market.
It feels weird and gross and objectifying.
