(scrolling through videos of people making literally the same joke with no new take or iteration on it) I love content

I was just watching the new Folding Ideas video about James Rolf and it's also not about James Rolfe and it's about creativity and working within your means and making things for the joy of making things

and I think a lot of the internet has lot the joy of creating something because everything has to be a side hustle. I'm far from the first person to make this point.

But if I look at Twitter or Instagram or YouTube or hell, even Discord, I just see the same kind of content made over and over again making the same jokes, the same points. People are going to have similar ideas but the meme-ificiation of jokes takes away from the person who made the joke. The act of creating a joke is devalued because it's the same dorks repeating the same punchline to each other.

I'm subscribed to a lot of YouTube channels (at least 100, probably, maybe) and one of the channels, Jason Brant (or So Bad, It's Good) covered a movie that was covered by Red Letter Media; Lycan Colony.

But Jason and his crew are different from the RLM guys. They're going to have different takes, different jokes, a different feeling.

If you believe that the act of creation; whether it's drama, comedy, etc., is simply just a method to earn money or is just a job, you're missing the point as to why someone creates.

You can MAKE for the joy or need or want of MAKING and if you make money off that, that's great. But it should be from you.

I've been watching Game Grumps since their inception and yes they've changed since the beginning, but the underlining reason I like them (their sense of humor and interactions with each other) is what draws me to them.

in conclusion, don't be MrBeast
