HELLO! I WRI... I... I MAKE...

BYE BYE

The pitch:

Mirama is a bullet-dodging adventure game, inspired by games like Touhou, The Binding of Isaac, and NieR.

Unlike traditional bullet hell titles, you'll get to explore the world in each of the game's five chapters, uncovering a bunch of neat little secrets along the way!

But there will be plenty of bullets to dodge, rest assured.

Wow look at Béatrice dodging these bullets

I aim for a game that's pretty simple to get the hang of, but hard to master. A button for dodging, a button for charging your sealing spell, a button to slow down your movement, and you're on your way.

Anything else the player should be concerned about will come from level design and tricky bullet patterns!

Progress updates:

I'm aiming for one of these every two months! It should give me enough time to find something worthwhile to say every time, while also being frequent enough that I won't leave myself too much time to slip up and stagnate. Game development isn't my day job, so expect progress to be pretty slow. Apologies!

The last one was on October 16th, so expect me to post a first cohosted edition on December 16th!

Cohost editions:

Current status, in short:

Chapter 1 mechanics are all in. Remaining work before moving on to Chapter 2:

  • Level design
  • Additional dialogue with two NPCs
  • Revamping the bullet patterns to make them more interesting, as well as scale with the difficulty setting

The initial state of the Hub world can be considered complete!

The original game:

That's right! Mirama started out as a game jam project in Pico-8 called Miracles and Magic. You can give it a shot below, it's definitely got some game jam jank (and it's too hard and it's got unskippable dialogue at the start I'M SO SORRY) but there's something in here that I'm definitely motivated to bring to light with a better game! ^^

Alright, that's all the time I've got! Hope you have a great day!!
