I helped a bit with the speed/tempo section on button masher's video on How to Learn Chiptune Trackers, which I really recommend giving a watch if you're interested.
This ended up being the longest segment... and there's still so much more stuff that goes into it (the important bits were covered so its not a problem). It'd probably be material enough for its own video lol
The relation between tempo, clock speed, ticks per row and etc. is one of the things you just "get" as you use trackers more and more but is difficult to break down for an explanation, even more for someone who isn't familiar
I feel I only learned enough that I could break it down after learning MML and how tempo and note durations work in that realm... did you know 150 BPM was often picked for early game music because mathematically the ideal amount of ticks in a quarter note is 24?
We had a very lengthy conversation about it on the process of helping with that section, I think I'll rewrite it into a cohost post or something (after I'm done with the other lengthy cohost posts talking about chiptune I'm working on)
