After Travis Millewa, I followed up by drawing another Australian animal man, this time of a more famous variety. In the process, I ended up experimenting yet again with perspective and color, setting a custom palette comprised mainly of soft, earthly shades for the man and his tree, and stark colors for the break of dawn. I feel the result came out strong.

Click here for the lore Manta Uluru (he/him)

Throughout the nations of the mutagian world, people do things that would be considered unwise in our more exploitative world. In ours, it would not be recommended to sleep in a public space without any sort of protection, even out in the wilderness. But in the mutagian world, even in cities, it is common for people to sleep out in the open undisturbed.

Manta Uluru is unhoused, and for decades, he has lived this way without persecution. Manta knows that if he does seek the comfort of a house, community housing is open for him at any time. Like the rest of his family, he mainly lives out in the open, washing himself in lakes, and sleeping in trees just as his ancestors had done, with the trees having long grown to support the weight of a human being. Though he does venture into cities from time to time, he has always called the Australian outback his home.
