After I drew three pieces of stream art during the March 25, 2024 episode of LordBBH's Push to Reject, I started on a fourth piece as the stream drew to a close, depicting the player character of the 1983 arcade game Popper, continued until I was finished, and then tweaked it in the day after. The final image includes a recreation of his game sprite in textmode half-blocks (with EGA colors) to contrast with the end result. Evidently, the 40+ years since his game came out did wonders for his looks.

Originally posted on April 17, 2024; this image was revised the next day, on April 18, based on viewer feedback.

Click here to see the original version A muscular brown and white rabbit man with floppy ears, wearing blue sleeves, stands with a hand on one hip and the other hand carrying a yellow boomerang. Text in the lower left reads "Popper, copyright 1983 Omori Electric Company". In one corner is a low-resolution cartoon version of him labeled "1983", while he is labeled "2024".

Today's Push to Reject stream, hosted by LordBBH and featuring obscure, unsuccessful arcade games, spawned this piece of the player character from Pop Flamer, a 1982 title from Jaleco. This is also not the first time people have done fan art for this game despite its obscurity! Gee, I wonder why... πŸ€”
