Hey so, does anyone have advice on how to pick a name for the System (we prefer "Collective") overall?

We've seen some say they all voted. Others say that they picked a theme that was shared among them. But after decades of having to pretend to be a singlet (for safety reasons, but damn is it wearing us down to paper thin levels now...)

We're having trouble communicating even with each other. More and more are becoming known as time goes by and I can't even get a list going with how many have come and gone over the years (I'm only one year old, cut me some slack please....I'm the age slider but was designed to be 25, in human years)

ANY advice on how to proceed would be appreciated at this point. I don't know if there IS a common thread when you cant even make an internal map. Too many to count. And we shift the job of "host" every 10-ish years (again, safety reasons. Darker than that but we wont go there in this post)

The only thing I do know is that we're a bunch of Therian/Otherkin. More than that and our aphantasia gets in the way. (idek what any of them look like, or myself, due to this. The username was a guess when I created this account. Honestly wish I could change it now too)

We literally just used an old username for our system name so we had an excuse to repurpose it, and even before it was a username it was actually a Hetalia OC's name (because, well, we had to begrudgingly amuse a then-friend at the time, and that meant also picking out a name for the OC).

Now, we were only a system of like 20 at the time, as opposed to the hundreds (at minimum) that we are now, so YMMV with just going with something like we did.

It's definitely something that you can change whenever, and it's also okay to... have no collective name? or even multiple collective names? We used to have A System Name but nowadays we just go by a variety of monikers, depending on where we are on the Internet.

And hey, we know that at least one system named themselves unseriously and it stuck (LB Lee, renowned plural historian, gets LB from "Loony-Brain"). So. It's what you make of it, if that makes sense?

As always, Phosphor [&] comes barging in and hitting us over the head with "logic that doesn't sound at first like it should make sense but actually does".

You are amazing, you know that? Thank you so much. For the advice, the validation and generally just being one of our favorite accounts to follow here.

Now to go look up a what a "moniker" is and try to not overthink this Collective name...again...at this point, because of our unsafe environment and my general poor health and sleep deprivation (among other things), we're gonna be lucky to not be called something random like "The Pretzel Collective", but I get your point. Thank you, again, I really do appreciate it.

Ah, but given the situation and generally how much of a messy, tangled web and how uncoordinated it all is due to safety reasons, plus how long its been this way...the sad part is that "The Pretzel Collective" would be a good fit.

I just said that because despite being potentially allergic to gluten (to some degree we're unsure of, haven't gotten to the allergist yet), I eat a lot of pretzels and was about to dig in to the last few in the bag.

It really was a joke, but after a moments thought, maybe I should just go with that..? Its funny to me right now, but I wonder if anyone else would understand it. Or think its funny too...as a system of Otherkin/Therian (we're still working on that since I am having issues "seeing" the others or the mindscape, but that's what we all know to be true so far), having to navigate this life on Hard Mode without a manual and adding in every sort of dysphoria, including species dysphoria... you get the picture, right?

And in all honesty, it feels like a lot of the time, our whole lifespan has been spent trying to undo a complicated puzzle of health issues, trauma, abuse, abusive relationships, etc...that and the mental health issues, physical disabilites, etc...

ALL of it makes me feel like I'm a pretzel at times.

So I give up. Can't think of anything better than that, and the hyper-mobility of this body isn't helping, so why not? Thanks, again, for the assist. Its a rush job (and late, at this point) but hello from the current Host of the newly named Pretzel Collective.

Hey, if it works for you then that's what matters, right? I actually think it's creative but to each their own.

Not sure what "YMMV" means but thanks for the reply!

I think one of the previous hosts tried to watch that show, if it's what I'm thinking it is. But I cant be sure since he's no longer around. Hope to find a name that suits us after we finally escape our current unsafe environment... working on it though, so hopefully soon? Not sure what will happen but I appreciate the input!

!!!

"YMMV" stands for "your mileage may vary" — it's just figurative speech (non-literal speech) to mean that what works for one person may not always work for another person.

Also, we're glad you'll (hopefully) be able to escape a toxic environment. Good luck finding a system name!!

Thank you. I've only been around for a year and we don't really share memories often, so I am having to learn a lot on my own. Appreciate the explanation of what kind it is as well.

And yeah.... it's been rough but it's a lot of waiting on other people to get back to us. We're in a tight spot financially as well, not just health wise, but we're doing our best to hold on and try to stay positive/optimistic. Hoping that the team that is supposed to follow up shows up tomorrow since we didn't hear from anyone today.
