in that superhero comics are fundamentally about retelling the same handful of plot beats over and over for 80+ years with slight tweaks to some of the variables, and quadruple-A monogenre open-world games are fundamentally about remaking Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (2010) over and over again for 13+ years with some slight tweaks to some of the variables
also I must admit that Spider-Man 2 (PlayStation 5) (2023) is probably the best Assassin's Creed Brotherhood yet
You still hold R2 to watch your character play a videogame, but the spidermanning is a lot more exciting to watch than asscreed parkouring. Mashing the Magnetize My Fist To The Nearest Guy's Face button until the Counter Heavy Attack indicator flashes is at least as fun as it was in Batman Arkham Asylum (2009)
I dunno if I'm actually ENJOYING it but damn they sure nailed the compulsion loop. I keep playing it constantly instead of doing any of the things I'm supposed to be doing with my time, so, props to the design team honestly
