I remember seeing the POW/MIA flag as a teen and even as an Extremely Christian Conservative dweeb I kinda thought it looked like some weird fash shit. Due to both its visual appearance and also that I mainly saw it on like pickup trucks with confederate flag stickers
then I noticed it was also on a bunch of actual government buildings and was like "oh, huh, guess it's a real thing, nevermind" and stopped thinking about it
then in my 30s I finally went and looked up "wtf is pow/mia" and discovered oh wait it IS Some Weird Fash Shit they just successfully strongarmed a bunch of state governments into pretending it's real lmao
