Okay so remember Lost Planet? Capcom's entry into the "Americans will only buy videogames about bald space marines" xbox 360 shooter pile?

They made a bunch of them and iirc they were all extremely 7/10core

Well in 2012 they announced E.X. Troopers, a very low-budget and Extremely Anime action game, inexplicably set in the Lost Planet universe?? I remember watching the announcement trailer and thinking it looked incredibly fun. "What if we took our stupid baldspacemarine game for americans and replaced the entire art direction with something actually memorable and extremely silly." every publisher should do this

HOWEVER since this was still the Bald Space Marines Only era, they never fuckin localized it

So, ten years later, some dedicated nerds made an english patch. It is 2024 and I am finally playing E.X. Troopers (2012)

I mostly remember Lost Planet because the first game had a really good let's play on Something Awful, but the video hosting platform is by now long dead so it lives in my head as this great memory that I can never revisit.

As for this game, I thought I heard a bunch of stuff from a scrapped Megaman Legends sequel got used for it (unless I'm thinking of something else with a similar style)

hah, the wiki article specifically mentions the megaman rumor and says capcom denied it

honestly sounds like the kind of thing fans would make up to get mad about; wouldn't make much sense for capcom to take a game from one of their flagship franchises and reskin it into a no-budget never-localized lost planet spinoff lol

Could be; I remember Megaman fans being pretty high strung at the time, thinking Box-art Megaman in Street Fighter X Tekken was an "insult to the franchise" and bullshit like that.
