I also liked Vista's Aero which had subtler effects! And I actually did use widgets, I still have the files around for some third party widgets that were really good
My only consolation is that it's relatively simple to do with CSS in a way you couldn't then.
i miss windows 7 in general tbh, i think that was the last "good" windows (altho its the one i grew up with so i was probably always gonna have the opinion lol). now im genuinely considering switching to linux for the first time ever
StartAllBack lets you mostly get this taskbar back on win11, which is a huge improvement, but yeah, I just fuckin' wanna go back
2010... Yeah, i got 1920x1080 on home PC, but still used 1024x768 on my thinkpad.
I can't imagine putting desktop widgets on either of them though lol
