I watched a youtube video that convinced me to watch Gundam but I'm terrified of watching it all in chronological order. Like I guess if I can start watching One Piece just as it entered the Wano arc I can do this but man Gundam is...very different from One Piece lmao

ive just started watching 079 the very first one, and it really incredible and definitely worth it. im abt halfway through! imo i think u can do 079, Zeta, ZZ, and Char's Counterstrike, then do whatever u want. thats just the first main arc all together, but 079 is genuinely quite good and a good place to start!

you literally don't have to watch the gundam stuff in any order except for the old UC stuff. Like, you can even do Zeta and ZZ without watching 079, it's just not going to be as much fun in some ways. vin is right that 079 is a great starting point. it's a little long to my memory, but it's great. if you're interested in more recent stuff like Iron-blooded Orphans or Witch from Mercury, you can literally just watch those

My wife is forcibly getting me into Gundam, so I understand the plight. It was either Gundam or Warhammer. In practice it's nowhere near the intimidating giant One Piece was to start. Lot of the time you can just watch whichever series interests you and get a decent experience at worst. I highly recommend G if you want some silly shit and IBO if you want to experience your heart being torn out of your chest and used as a football.

08TH MS Team has a really neat vibe and aesthetic to it.
Hathaway's Flash is gorgeous.
Mobile Fighter G Gundam is probably peak Gundam camp.

I guess I like Gundam, but I've never felt compelled to watch the entire UC.

lmao yeah it is so very different from one piece. and thats fair about gundam being intimidating. honestly id recommend the last couple gundams, iron blooded orphans and now witch from mercury, for ease of access into things
