Social media numbers lie about what's important even from a raw career perspective. For example:
Doing comics and going just off of likes and reposts would lead me to believe that doing pinups of popular characters would be far more worthwhile. But despite getting a fraction of the Numbers, there is a noticeable difference in how many people stop and click a link or check out a profile when I post a comic page. This is most likely because I enjoy comics and just sitting down to draw a single picture leaves me at a loss but if I went chasing numbers I don't think patreon would be a viable option for me.
