question for artists of cohost:

I just got my new tablet (intuos pro medium) and I'm looking to...not demolish the surface of this one. I've seen surface protectors and texture pads and I'm tempted to try them but I've already been set back the cost of the tablet and don't wanna spend more on something that isn't great. Anybody use them before? What are your experiences?

Tbh myself and several of my old friends n ex even would sometimes just tape a single piece of printer or notebook paper onto the surface :O it was a cheap way to protect it + gave a nice feel to drawing for someone like myself that struggled going from traditional to digital

If you're looking for a proper protector though I do enjoy smooth/glass-like protectors on my iPad (even on a non-screen tablet I'd recommend a cheap glove or smth to help with glide since I find my skin does tend to 'stick' more on smoother protectors)

I've heard good things about paperlike, but also see v frequently that they can make you burn through nibs like holy shit, especially if you're someone who tends to use more pressure/force with you pen or stylus🤔

The paper was a rly easy go-to bc we were all broke as hell lmao 😂 but it worked if you could tape it down flat enough :O might still want even just a rly cheap glove to avoid hand oils, sweat, etc to make the paper last slightly longer, but it's an easy quick or temp solution until you find smth nicer to invest in c:

I think we realized it was a decent solution bc someone was literally laying their drawings down to trace them onto the computer that way lol
