we are aware of issues impacting image uploads. this is an issue with our storage hosting provider and we are working with them to figure out what's going on and how to resolve it. we will update this post with additional information as we know it.

sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for using cohost :eggbug:

April 4 3:00 PM PDT: they're still working to identify and fix the root issue. since this issue is ongoing, we're making it cohost corner for the time being.

April 4 7:30 PM PDT: our understanding is that they are still working on identifying the root cause. at this point, attachment uploads have been down for approximately 24 hours. this is well beyond our expectations and we are investigating options for bringing back uploads without them. we’ll have more to report in the morning.

April 5 6:30 AM PDT: downtime continues. we've posted a longer update with details about our mitigation plans.

UPDATE 10:37am PDT: we have completed enough of the migration that attachment uploads should now be working. we will be continuing the process of moving existing attachments over to our new hosting provider. please let us know if you are continuing to see issues.

hi folks! as you probably noticed, the downtime continues unabated. we'd like to share an update on our mitigation plans.

this is, unfortunately, the second major outage we've had with digitalocean spaces within the span of a month. the fact that this has been occurring for nearly 36 hours now is a last straw for us and we are beginning the process of moving away from them for attachment hosting.

we anticipate image uploading will be back through our new provider by the end of the day. we are working on some CDN magic to serve from both hosts simultaneously while the migration is ongoing so we can bring back image uploads ASAP while existing data is still moving between hosts.

during this time, you may experience some inconsistencies while loading images and other attachments. we're hoping there won't be any issues but want to provide warning.

we'll provide notice once we consider the issue resolved. we're sorry for the inconvenience and just as frustrated by it as y'all are. thank you for your patience, and thank you as always for using cohost.

good to hear!

note: you might want service degradation notices to be more visible on mobile (i'm a desktop user and my wife didnt see this and asked me to verify that the image uploading problem was not "just her"...)
