Here's a song with a mix of clean and harsh vocals to show the full range of my capabilities. This track took quite a few takes for vocals and bass guitar. During one recording session I was warming up for a section that transitioned from clean to harsh vocals, and my dad walked in on me. naturally, instead of being curious about what i was doing, he goes "what the hell is that, you call that singing?"
Naturally, the fucker can't hold a pitch and is consistently a semitone and a half flat if not more, and at times doesn't even follow the same intervals the song does. he's genuinely tone deaf and in complete denial about it.
to be clear, i'm not about to judge anybody for singing off-tune; singing is about having fun, and if you're off-key, i won't mind. i'll just sing along with you.
i only have a problem if somebody's telling me my singing is garbage when their own singing is so far off the mark that one would be forgiven for assuming a whale was dying.
