“Get a 3D printer,” they said. “You’ll be able to print all the organization tools and containers you need.”

What they don’t tell ya is that owning a 3D printer entails also owning piles of doodads, tidbits, and greeblies that you then have to organize!

“Oh look a model for a handy tool holder to specifically organize your flush cutters and pliers”

Until this phase in my life I had no need for handy access to nippers and pliers!

i subscribe to a 3d printing forum despite not owning a 3d printer and it seems the majority of what people do with a 3d printer is fix it

I've been working with one for my job and hobby (so much Nerf junk) since 2016, and I still haven't found a good, concrete way to handle the waste. About the best I've managed so far is gluing scraps together into spaceship-like shapes.

Acquiring a 3d printer is basically picking up a time consuming hobby of learning how to use, repair, maintain, and upgrade a 3d printer.

As a side bonus you occasionally get to make something cool, but those are brief interruptions to the standard day to day work of making sure it functions.
