I'm not a cohostorian but "#The Cohost Global Feed" arose out of a desire to add some kind of general opt-in discoverability to the site as a crowdsourced feature. I think shortly after that people spun up things like "#The Cohost Global Feed (Horny)" when there was a desire to still participate in the tradition but segment the feed for things that require CWs etc, and no one stopped to question as the usage spun out as a sort of memetic thing that they could just as well use "#music" as "#The Cohost Global Feed (Music)".

Also there is definitely value in proving that you are "in the know" by knowing which tags to use and therefore finding people who are similar levels of cohost-knowledgeable as you.
