iiiiit’s wednesday! as we warned last week, this is a small week that’s mostly some bug fixes. we’ve got two big things in the work (one of which is Tipping! it’s happening! it’s in progress for real!) so it might be a bit before you hear about anything exciting from us.

new financial update coming this week probably. here’s what’s new:

  • whole bunch of audio bug fixes
    • you can now upload .m4a files and not just .aac files
    • we fixed some bugs that broke uploading .wav files, and uploading .flac files in some browsers
    • the seek bar works correctly and doesn’t have an annoying tooltip about “invalid values”
    • the audio player fails gracefully with a helpful error message and download link if your browser can’t play a particular file
      • we’re limiting uploads to specific file formats that have high browser support to try and avoid this occurring as much as possible, but we can’t emphasize this enough: there’s a lot of weird things you can do with audio file formats if you really try

Vanadium on GrapheneOS (effectively Android Chromium 115)

Edit: I can also reproduce this on desktop Firefox on both a fresh profile and my lived-in profile if I make the window small enough to use the mobile layout. If the window is big then the picker is still centered but it's nowhere near the edge of the window so it isn't cut off.

Second this. Many people with headphones have wildly different volume settings that they're comfortable with. I, for example, have mine set to 20% in windows and stuff on websites is usually set to around low-medium. Anything that plays @ full volume is usually too loud. Sure I can turn own the slider in windows, but that turns everything else down and is an inconvenience.

I couldn't figure out how to file a bug report but here's one that's been hitting me a few times

On iOS 15.7.85, when I use autocomplete in the tag field, the text is not added to the field but a space is placed. This means manually entering each tag and having to edit them by hand very carefully. I also don't seem to be able to paste into the tag field either
