I legit dunno how many UK folk are on Cohost, let alone Scottish games workers, HOWEVER a bunch of really cool folk (Inc. @SaidlikeCaleen and @restbread) have been putting together a salary survey for the historical "home of Scottish Games Development" of Dundee, and it's pretty eye opening/confirms a lot that people have assumed.

FOR EXAMPLE

Despite it's legacy status and a load of people constanly bigging it and the Scottish games Sector up, the average wage for a games work in Dundee is £28,000, which is a solid £10,000 less than the UK average. There's definitely one or two very high skew points (who in the FUCK is earning apparently close to £100k with like 6/7 years experience?), but a fair number of folk are around that point or below.

There's further breakdowns by gender, seniority, working style, people who get paid overtime (4 people in total, not a percentage), bonuses, pay rises... just lots of data.

Go look at it it's really cool!

Hopefully it's the start of some changes in the city/country, and at teh very least becomes a sore point for people who like to crow about how successful it is while ignoring the fact that it's build on underpaid and usualyl overworked labour.

AND JOIN A UNION HOLY FUCK.
