remember in early 2020 when so many of us were collectively burning ourselves out running food delivery networks and apollo 13-ing ersatz masks from stuff lying around hospitals because there were shortages, and trying to make PCR tests highschool biology teachers would be able to run with a class if they had to, and ventilators from cheap hardware
and we did it because we were hoping it would be picked up by people in charge and people who cared
and instead they just said, vaccines are here, the deaths are acceptable, and all this labor people are doing with each other isn't paying into the economy
(but don't fret, it taught a lot of STEM people the occupy tactic of "just do it and people will either come with the skills or be open to learning", and the being abandoned radicalized a lot of them. and also that randos often know about equipment or materials you don't)
