I have tried to write this chost on "shopping mall dungeons" twice today and I feel like the shorter it gets the better it gets so now I'm writing this.

Hey, I don't like Corridors in dungeon design. I much prefer a room that connects to 3-4 other rooms. Corridors that connect to 8-12 rooms and just go on bloats the dungeon. I am not the guy who likes filler rooms in a dungeon crawl.

also i have a personal grudge against anyone who recommends that you can turn a shopping mall directory map into a dungeon map. that's ludicrous.

The only way it works is if there's been like, some kind of Resident Evil level catastrophe or it's A Lot Later and the whole place is basically in ruins.

You can have an information map to maybe give the player(s) something to try to work towards, but you need paths blocked off, tightened up (because, as everyone knows, malls are made for Massive Pedestrian Throughput For Maximum Gains), with new paths opened or open to player ingenuity.

Right now I can tell you that I think the nature of a shopping mall is to make navigation as simple as possible! Throughfares are wide, the mall is airconditioned, and escalators, elevators, and ramps are installed to make traversal a breeze!
