why the fuck did we stop using removable batteries?
i need to KNOW that the device has in fact had ZERO FUCKING ACCESS TO ELECTRICITY
because engineers can't be trusted to do that and programmers are idiots who like to cache way to much nonsense in ways that persist across boots. fuck you programmers and engineers. make it easier to kill your devices and softwares because sometimes they need to die.

i had wireless headphones whose power switch was implemented in software. that is, the switch didn't cut the power to the headphones, instead the firmware detected its position and reacted accordingly.

at one point the firmware must have crashed while the headphones were turned on. they wouldn't react to my attempts at turning them off and they wouldn't connect to any devices either.

the battery was, of course, not removable, so i had no option but to just leave them out on my desk until the battery ran out. after that i charged them and they were fine.
