These folks are paid peanuts to destroy their mental health doing moderation work to train AI.
The stories were endless: “I collapsed in the office”; “I went into a severe depression”; “I had to go to hospital”; “they had no concern for our wellbeing”.
Well crap, it's like the stories I've heard about what happens to people who work as social media moderators, except for a much worse cause.
Yeah. Feels deeply unnecessary to inflict so much suffering on people so search engines can tell me to put rocks on my pizza. And cynical to outsource the work to Kenya so the big AI touting companies can pay them peanuts. Whole thing is grim.
