Recently, I packaged up Turbo Vision 2.0 and the turbo text editor for openSUSE. There's a journey behind that and whatnot, but let's take a moment to look at those screenshots from that blog post.
That's the exact kind of TUI that I grew up on, alongside Windows 98. It's the same kind that influenced my website's appearance right now! Always loved this TUI style with it's solid dropdown shadows, buttons looking like they're hovering, etc. There's an entire mini-ramble at the very end of the blog post going into more details, but the summary is that there should be more TUI apps (especially in this style).
And perhaps, say, even building a desktop environment entirely in a TUI considering advancements in TTYs and terminals? Hmmmm...
I really miss the rock solid UI frameworks of yore.
