Only just learned that Orbital's 1993 featured-in-several-soundtracks1 hit "Halcyon And On And On" samples a popular dance track by Opus III, which in turn is a cover of the a capella original song from 1983, and there's something kind of magical about how this one haunting vocal melody from the early 80s started off all on its own, was plucked like a fruit from an alien world and incorporated into progressively more elaborate works, and I put this little playlist together to better appreciate the onion layers, the tree rings, the turducken, pick you mix of metaphors.
