every time I have the misfortune of being forced to think about unity (most recently because I had to do a bugfix for the upcoming switch gitcl port) it makes me feel incredibly vindicated about the work I'm doing to make my new game engine. it was not worth it. it was never worth it. using unity simply did not save any time vs doing it myself. reinventing the wheel is simply not harder than adapting to the miserably bad wheel that unity made
I implore you to switch.
Perhaps you're too far into your current project, bare months from release, but at least look at your options for your next thing.

They've shown time and time again they don't give a fuck about you, or even their own engine, and it's what-we're-laughably-going-to-call features.
It's only going to get worse.
The jump to Unreal or Godot isn't as big and scary as it might seem at first glance, and there's a lot of good resources about making said jump these days!
Depending on the type of game you want to make, even rolling your own isn't as bad either! At least when something doesn't work, you'll a) know why and b) be able to go in and fix it.
