Americans continue to amaze me every goddamn day and listen!!! From an outsider perspective my deduction went: Alamo drafthouse exists, so clearly Americans will name random shit after the sites of actual battles??? Ergo, something horrible must’ve happened at Pepperidge Farm that the soil still remembers. I DONT KNOW I DONT GO HERE

still thinking about how 'never forget' and 'remember the alamo' put the onus of the memory on americans with a 'those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it' intent

but the idea that the soil remembers the atrocities done upon it, that when an american says "pepperidge farm remembers" it is actually to remind others of how the wrongdoing affected the land itself, that the living earth is mourning and condemning generations-old violence even now and we should not ignore its grief when we approach violence again -- is just, extremely compelling?? and awesome??
