Ugh.
I made the mistake of following more people that do like, little stories with their FFXIV character, and...
it makes me want to do the same.
But I don't want to fucking start (or pay for) another fucking MMORPG.
Or play one again. I'm 12 years sober, thank you very much.

Besides I don't have any fucking spare time to do the things I already want to do, so...

#stay strong #one day at a time #but they look so cute #and the game comes with so many meshes and animations and stuff I can't just... wish out of thin air if I wanted to do these little vignettes myself #you see my problem #damn it #ffxiv

hmmm... what about doing it with some sort of singleplayer game? not sure where your interests lie, but code vein comes to mind as a game with a really good character creator & photo mode. might be a decent outlet?

(also FFXIV has some third-party tools you can use for posing and, uh, free client-side-only outfits. would recommend Anamnesis, but wouldn't blame you for not wanting to boot up another MMO.)

Hmm... maybe.
I think I tried Code Vein's demo when it dropped, way back, but it felt a bit too... post-apocalypticly?
Might take another look at it tho, thanks.

And yeah, that's part of the appeal of FFXIV I guess, the tons of basically mods people have made for it with all sorts of extra outfits and poses, but... MMOs have proven themselves to be a deep, dark hole it's hard to claw my way back out of.

Ooo yeah, uh, Code Vein is very edgy. I never played it for the story 😅

But, uh, at the end of the day, just try and do whatever's best for your mental well-being. I totally understand the concern, y'know? I was very resistant to any kind of MMO until it became something I could do to spend time with friends and, eventually, my partner. Don't feel beholden to FFXIV just because everyone else is doing it, there's definitely other options for you.

also I knew I was someone who gets addicted to things very easily, so that was... always scary.

Yeah, I used to duo-WoW Rogue + Druid (ages ago, before the pandas came in), but then my friend stopped, and I sort of dropped into SWTOR... and had to claw my way out again.
So I totally understand scary.
