well, i managed to finish up the rest of a sketch page tonight after my impromptu nap, so feeling at least a bit accomplished in the art department for today! X'3

i absolutely loved @Furufoo's Lab Demonstration comic, especially the little bit of worldbuilding it set up, so i made a version of my pokesona that fits into that universe!

this nerd does habitat and population studies on various pokemon species, but especially focuses in on eevee and their evolutions, and the ways this special group of pokemon adapts to sudden changes in their environments. of course, what better way to collect data on such an elusive species than to become one yourself?~

in reply to @TuxedoDragon's post:

the theta-delta symbol denotes a person is a "therian", someone whose self-identity is that of an animal rather than a human! if i remember correctly, the combination of greek letters was chosen because the "th-" of theta corresponds to the word therian or therianthropy, while the delta is associated with a change in state (in this case, the change or difference between a human and animal identity)

Studying Eevee in this manner makes me wonder how different the initial technological TF and "natural TF" of pokemon evolution would be to experience. Pokemon evolution is far more energetic and instantaneous, and probably a fair bit more shocking to the brain given how often pokemon will have a slight change in disposition to go with their new bodies, not to mention the near-instant adaptation to their adjusted anatomy, no matter how radical the change.

This is so important whoa

I love the concept of getting crittery to do the research firsthand

I love the streaks in the hair that go with the still-transformed earsβ€”i might need to swipe that general design idea, if that's okay, or at least see if i can come up with something similar and equally appealing, because wow it's like swirly froyo except the yogurt flavors are your species mixing around in streaks wherever they can, my mind is short-circuiting (good way)

And there's something about the juxtaposition of that armband up against the end of the squat feral paws that really hammers in to me that they don't have humanoid dexterity down there anymore, they're just standing on those paws, on all fours, that's just what they do to stand now, and they must be so small… and for whatever tradeoffs that could entail, that darn blep is all it takes to communicate that the state of Being an Eevee makes it all so immensely worth it that i can't help but start fantasizing about how blissful it must be, myself

…How do you manage to do all that in a page of five sketches? I need to figure out how to start tapping into these feelings in my own art

(Also that comic of Furufoo's sure is doing well for itself, huh? My friends keep getting into discussions about it, and now it's getting OCs, pretty neat)

So, be honest, how often does sparky here really change back to human form? I get the feeling they would have to check a calendar to figure out when the last time they weren't on all fours was.
