i recently started the process towards getting top surgery! turns out it's much easier to get approved here in Oregon than in Utah :3
i have a referral and i'm gonna be scheduling a consultation within the next couple of weeks! from there, it'll just be a bit of a wait for the big day...i was given an estimate of 2026, though it's also quite possible it'll get bumped up! either way, it's all very exciting!!
"human" may not be my ideal form, but i'm gonna make the best of it anyways! uwu

far fewer than i was expecting so far, honestly! the only thing currently standing in the way of the consultation appointment is getting a letter from my therapist, but that's being worked on rn! other than that, i just need to convince my insurance to cover the whole thing and i should be good to go...fingers crossed it isn't any more complicated than that X'3
of course, this would've looked much different if i was still living back in Utah! that's kinda why i was braced for the worst...this has been so nice by comparison, i'm not even sad there's a 2 year wait!
Yeah approval processes through insurance can be tricky as the State might not restrict the application or make it that hard, but the insurance might have its own internal requirements, so be sure to get in touch with an agent and open a case. Last thing you want is to have a cancellation two months shy because you didn't get a particular evaluation or test run and sent to the insurance company for a hidden decision panel.
When I worked rehab, our trans clients who had upcoming surgeries often had to submit the evaluations we did, and that meant prepping data and coaching their attending physician to summarize the data in an insurance-friendly way. We had great data, so we tended to get approval; through even three full years after that job ended I see the same issue myself because of my intersex condition. Lots of "well, your insurance says I can't run this test", painful.
