So it turns out I gotta wrap up my campaign a lil earlier than I expected. A player's spending the summer in Europe and we're not gonna be able to make the time difference work.

This means that I gotta figure out how to wrap everything up despite being in the middle of it. I've been hinting at some bigger picture stuff that was gonna come up later, but bringin it in now without it being incredibly abrupt and confusing is a struggle. Also, how the hell they're gonna interact with it in a fun and satisfying manner. . .

So far, I've had a fungus that wants to spread itself among sentient hosts and create a galactic hivemind cooking and one of the player's factions has been gearing up to retake it's lost territory.

In an incredible stroke of luck, the players were already traveling to a sector that was going to be a small infection point point for the fungus and is now going to be a massive outbreak zone for it. This sector is also directly next to the capital world of the faction that's about to start a war. So I've at least got that going in my favor.

They're gonna stop at the station there to refuel. I figure I'll throw the station into a quarantine lockdown while they're doing that. From there?????? I don't know

I guess I could drop the alien intelligence angle I was gonna take with the fungus and go zombie horror. It's trite, but it gives them more concrete obstacles to deal with. Tryin' to go high brow probably isn't gonna work with the time frame I have left.

Mix the invasion plan in with a zombie outbreak and we got a big ol' smorgasbord of chaos.

Zombie outbreak as part of the invasion? Normally a tool used to wipe a planet so they can swoop in and since it was their creation they have the treatment?

Keeping them separate though leads to a lot LOT more chaos as you now have multiple sides to play off of though

Gonna keep 'em separate. I want the players to sail off into the sunset on a bittersweet note so that there's a hook to revisit the setting in the future.

Also, I gave them a load of anti-fungal meds way back in session 1 and I can't wait to see whether or not they remember it.

Edit: Realizing now that one of my GM hallmarks is that I'll give the players a solution to their problem in a way that they don't realize it's the solution.
