Welp, I managed to wrap the campaign up in one session instead of two.
Up until an hour before game time I had very little idea how to end things, when I decided to mix in Spindlewheel and some time-lapse. (I know I've been talking up Spindlewheel a lot lately, but I can not express enough how useful it is).
Once the station went into lockdown, we broke the game into days and each day someone would draw a card and interpret the events of the day (Anyone could inject a scene or an action whenever they wanted). I only had two players, so I could throw in plot bait at a reasonable rate.
First day, I used my card to establish the risks of trying to break out of the lockdown. From there the players went to town with the other station inhabitants immediately losing their shit.
I got the fungus infection started on the station, they started doing damage control (and seizing political power). A Princess I didn't know existed beforehand was also there.
Skipping over details.
The Emperor fleet showed up. The Emperor immediately died. More of the emperor's fleet showed up.
A player became a psychic hivemind with the fungus. Despite me not telling them anything about the fungus beforehand, one the players came up with it being psychic and intelligent on their own.
The Hivemind tried to control everyone, other player managed to blow up the station with a suicide bombing that they miraculously survived. This left the fungus planet locked for now, but the PC had no where to go but the heavily infected planet.
The funny droid NPC managed to escape though!
