I do think $250 is a little steep (considering this is excluding shipping & import tax, of which the latter is 21% out here), but I hope the massively successful fundraiser can help bring that down a lil bit.
We are offering free international shipping with the campaign, so hopefully the added costs are a bit less than you're expecting.
We also wish the price was lower! Unfortunately, the realities of producing indie hardware do constrain our ability to keep the price down. You can generate a BOM for the PCBs easily via the hardware repo to get a sense of where the budget goes. We also need to produce batteries, manufacture the cases, prepare packaging, and so on.
Just figured I'd share! In any case if you don't want to pay $250 up front, all plans are available and you could probably manufacture your own! Though that does take a bit of knowledge of electronics fabrication.
