This is such good advice that I'm going to piggyback on it to offer an erotic game-writing corollary.

Overwhelmingly the most common mistake I see inexperienced writers making in porn games when writing sex scenes is limiting themselves to describing what's currently visually happening on-screen. This is bad practice for three big reasons:

  • It's redundant. Whether you have static art or some kind of animated loop, the visuals of your scene speak for themselves! Don't make players waste clicks reading a description of things they can clearly see on-screen!
  • It's limiting. There are only so many words to describe bodies, genitals, and the various ways they interact, and only so many ways to combine those words that are interesting and engaging across potentially dozens of sex scenes. And this leads into the last reason...
  • It's inefficient. If your writing depends on describing what's happening on-screen, you'll necessarily need to create more assets to have on-screen in order to have satisfyingly-long sex scenes. Art & animations take a long time to produce and are very expensive and time & money are not things any game dev has a lot of!

You don't have to IGNORE the visually-available physical descriptions, of course. But the advice Taylor provides above is an EXCELLENT way that your sex scene writing can be a value-adding complement to the visuals of your game, rather than a dull afterthought. The interiority of the characters involved - what they're sensing, thinking, feeling, THIS is all stuff that only your writing can convey. Here's a few quick examples to close out:

  • Visual: Your character is looking at some big tits. Maybe they can smell perfume. Is it floral, or sweet? Or maybe they're smelling sweat - again, is it fresh, or old, stale? Can they hear her breathing? Is there music playing in another room?
  • Visual: Two characters are porking doggy-style. Sounds! Slapping. Grunting! Gasping! And don't forget feelings - shuddering impact, shaky thighs. Does one character have a solid grip on the other's hips, or is the skin too slick with sweat for firm purchase?
  • Visual: Facial cumshot time! Pulse pounding in your character's ears! Giddy, almost dizzying anticipation! Animalistic panting, tongue hanging out, saliva shimmering as it catches the light! Spasming, flinching, exhausted laughter and boneless collapse! Fuck!

There! Aren't those just a little bit better than "Vanessa's pussy feels incredible on Grelvin's dick. His hips start to move, pounding her pussy. Squelch squelch spurt"?
