Last night I had a Star Trek Voyager dream in which Harry Kim, unbeknownst to him, had a device embedded in him that would turn him into a violent killer if activated. Crucially it would activate automatically if he ever became too experienced / good at his job. Upon discovery Janeway grimly nodded, discussed with Tuvok and Tom Paris and decided to never ever promote Harry to avert a potential bloodbath
Prior to Star Trek: Picard messing with the the post-Nemesis timeline in some hard-to-reconcile ways, Star Trek Online was the quasi-authority on What Happened To The Next Generation/DS9 Era Star Trek, and it had some great adventures for ol' Harry in the 25th century, lemme tell ya.

Harry finally makes Captain after 30+ years in the service (compare: your player character goes from fresh academy graduate to captain in one (1) training voyage) and becomes your Delta Quadrant liaison alongside Vice Admiral Tuvok (Trivia: Cryptic would later retcon some of the lines to make Janeway your go-to Delta Quadrant quest NPC after they were able to hire Kate Mulgrew to do voicework for STO a couple years ago).
-
The Kobali, a bunch of graverobber aliens that reproduce by turning the corpses of other species into their own, find the body of the original Harry Kim, (i.e. the guy that got blown out into space in "Deadlock" and was replaced by his quantum duplicate) and turn him into one of them.
-
You and Captain Kim meet this guy and send him to therapy for his new status as an alien before he can accidentally start a war between the Kobali and the Vaadwaur, a bunch of space fascists whose crypts the Kobali were raiding to start a baby boom.

In the current storyline, you find out Mirror Universe Harry Kim is the Borg King (the Mirror Universe Borg are called the Borg Kingdom and they glow red with green lasers instead of green with red lasers), and then execute him after he assimilates you (you get better).
