i went from tsundere for cohost to enjoying the site, so yeah it would suck to see it go away.
I've been somewhat hesitant to praise cohost publicly as I'm mutuals with a couple of people who've categorically Had a Bad Time here and felt like they had to leave or lock up or were otherwise made to feel unwelcome. Because of the nature of the site and how it tends not to let discourse spread too much in a way that you can track easily, I can't help but think that might be happening to people I -don't- follow or have a mutual-type connection with, and worry how they might feel when moments like this arrive and people gas up the website that's been giving them a bad time. And that sucks.
But I can't speak for them. Speaking for myself alone, I've seen far more good than bad since I joined.
At the moment Cohost is the only extant social media I check regularly where each time I log in (more or less) I either:
a) see something cool
b) learn something new
c) have a laugh
And not feel immediately like regretting my words and deeds or like I'm wasting time being here. This place has its own issues and problems and I've got my own doubts about whether or not it represents a future for social media or whatever, but to paraphrase what Jess called cohost it back when public signups were opened, it's been a pretty good third (or fourth) website so far, and I'd like that to continue.
