Slow of thought and life. Autistic and disabled. Called 'Tan' since a portion of True Name.
Stubbornly trying to learn to draw.
Enjoys weird crossover fanfic with interesting worldbuilding\meshing, romance-comedy and slice of life mangas.
Laid fallow and rotting for over a decade, stirring slightly but still very disabled and my life is very small and improvised.
Emphasis on the person not the bad in 'bad person'.

I'm not actually sure how someone would go about teaching a cat to use this. I mean, how do you explain what the words mean? I wish cats could talk to us, but I don't know. This seems too good to be true.
Lady who is doing the experiment is a veterinarian and they started with much, much fewer buttons. Like one or two, I think, maybe just food and pets? I dont remember. I think it's part of They Can talk, a research project.

I could swear I've seen a video where she goes over things but I can't find it now :< Vague memories that they used training and then specific association work (and regular reinforcement of what they mean when communicating with the cat), from what I remember.
There's some times they don't understand eachother, or sometimes where viewers might understand later once it's uploaded even if the lady didnt, where you can piece together kind of the cat trying to communicate something not immediately obvious to a human, which makes me think it's not like the counting horses where it's normally a cue from a human.
There's a question of accuracy still, ofc, tho some are pretty straightforward and I've seen cat communicate those via normal cat language, which is already adapted for humans, meowing and such is already a thing aimed at humans I think?
But some of them lead to cuddling or comfort or treats, and whether Billie understands the nuances of those, idk. still amazing, like you say
Interesting! Thanks for the information, I'll set aside some time to read up on it.
Here's an interesting vid about how the more traditional non-verbal cat communication fits into it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MEkwnEnfw8
