(Part 1 | Part 2)

Kat stood staring at the sigil on the floor, dagger in hand, pondering what she was doing. It had been a couple weeks since the party and she couldn't get Adelphi's words out of her head. She wasn't sure how sincere the devil had been at the time but she wanted to know what she'd meant about having more fun together.

She closed her eyes as a single drop of blood fell to the floor; the burning light of the sigil was still bright even with her eyes closed. As she opened them, she was greeted by the smiling face of Adelphi.

"Hello, dear. I was starting to worry you weren't actually interested in seeing me again." said the devil, taking a step towards her.

"What did you mean when you said we could have fun together?" asked Kat, taking a step back.

"What do think I meant, darling?" asked Adelphi, as she continued to close the gap.

Kat continued to back away, trying to keep some distance between the two of them. She lightly bumped into a wall as Adelphi drew closer, the devil towered over her, horns nearly scraping the ceiling. After some internal panicking Kat finally looked up at her, cheeks glowing red, and said, "I- I don't know?"

Adelphi reached out towards her and gently brushed Kat's cheek with her thumb then said, "Well dear, I was thinking we could have dinner, then we'd see where the night took us."

Kat looked up at her, and in a confused voice asked, "Dinner?"

"Yes, my dear. Dinner. Just the two of us. Or would you rather skip to the end?" asked Adelphi, eyebrow raised.

The two of them sat in the fanciest, and definitely most expensive, restaurant Kat had ever been in. Adelphi had bought her a dress for the occasion; it had cost more than the entire rest of her wardrobe combined, but Adelphi had insisted. Kat didn't really go in for dresses, she found them hard to sneak in, and this one was no exception. She also didn't like suits, they were even more restrictive and made her feel so stiff. So she wore dresses for formal occasions, even if she wasn't all that comfortable in one.

Adelphi on the other hand... Adelphi looked stunning in yet another three piece formal suit. She looked so at ease and comfortable in it, like it was made just for her, and it likely was. She was sitting directly across from Kat, giving her a devilish smile and looking at her like she was the only person in the room.

Kat sat fidgeting, the dress making her feel vulnerable, easy to see. She also wasn't quite sure what to say to Adelphi, she wasn't quite sure what the devil had in mind, but she'd been nothing but nice enough so far...

Just as she finished that thought Adelphi asked, "You still don't trust me?"

"I don't know... Do you trust me?" asked Kat.

"Of course, dear."

"Why? I'm a liar and a thief, I could be planning to steal something from you." said Kat.

"You are a thief of secrets, my dear, and I have no secrets to keep." said Adelphi.

"None?" asked Kat.

"I am proud of who I am and what I have done, I have no need to hide a thing. You're free to ask anything you wish." said Adelphi.

Kat thought for a moment then asked, "Have you ever had an... intimate... relationship with a human before?"

"Once." said the devil.

"Who were they?" asked Kat.

"It was many many years ago, during the dawn of humanity. I approached her in the garden one day and we got to know each other. I was smitten and so was she." said Adelphi, "Then one day we crossed the line."

Adelphi stared off into the distance for a moment then continued, "When the almighty found out he was furious, he clipped my wings and I plummeted to the depths. Once I finally reached the surface my beloved was horrified by my new form, so I let her be."

"I'm sorry." said Kat.

"You needn't be my dear, it wasn't your fault." said Adelphi. She sat lost in her memories for a moment before continuing. "I lost my beloved and my grace that day but I gained something greater. I gained self. In that place I could not be as I wished, nor could I be with whom I wished. Over time I came to understand myself and I became who I am today, something God does not wish to see."

"And you haven't been with anybody else since?" asked Kat.

"Sadly not. Though I do enjoy the company of the other fallen, I've always loved humans more, but they do not love me back. Humans find it hard to trust a devil, our image has been tarnished by God's disciples." said Adelphi.

Kat just sat listening intently, so Adelphi continued, "Poor Lu got the worst of it, he just wanted to be himself and refused the role forced upon him. But, because he was the first, God insisted he tempted the rest of us..."

The two remained silent for a moment before Kat asked, "What's hell actually like then?"

"It's a bit of a mixed bag honestly." said Adelphi, "Some people are assholes, and some people are lovely, just like up here."

"But like, what about all the torture and torment and all that jazz?"

"There's nothing of the sort going on down there, dear. Well... If they're into it, then yes, it does happen, but that's up to all those involved. It's not official Hell policy." replied Adelphi.

"Huh." said Kat, before falling silent once again, unsure what to say or ask, before Adelphi gave her a smile and said, "Now darling, if you have no other questions, let's get ourselves some more wine and enjoy our night together."
