Use wmctrl to switch focus to kitty if it's running, otherwise run it:
wmctrl -xa kitty || kitty
I have this bound to super+space, and caps lock bound to super, to be able to get to a terminal as quickly and easily as possible.

I've been enjoying broot as my terminal file browser, particularly for letting me preview images in the terminal and mark multiple files to apply commands to. I'm launching it with -s --sort-by-type-dirs-last to show sizes and sort files first since I usually launch it in the folder I'm interested in.
The audio issue was that my user needed to be in the audio group.
I haven't been organized for a while because I haven't had enough energy, but today I got back into it a bit. Now I have a terminal window normally open on calcurse which has calendar stuff and simple todos that don't need to be archived, with another tab for nb which has more permanent notes.
I like the bored file, which I had forgotten about - it's a list of things to do when bored, so when I don't know what to do I can quickly get to some suggestions.
