So that's one more game wrapped up.
A few final thoughts:
The game is surprisingly cute. The characters, and their lines made me smile a lot of the time. The writing isn't particularly complicated, or deep, but it's charming in its own way. Almost clashes a little with the serious tone it seems to be trying to convey from time to time, but I'd say it works more often than not. Probably.
The gameplay is interesting, but I'm not sure how I would actually compare it to something more like XCOM, or Mario & Rabbids. As in which kind I prefer. I guess this suits superheroes better, at least. I wish there were more ways to get more card plays in a turn, but I guess that's supposed to be part of the puzzle. It just feels like something that should be possible to upgrade as you get further into the game. You get more powerful abilities, but you're still limited in using them all the way to the end. That isn't necessarily bad, it's just how the game is designed, but personally I would have preferred gradually getting to do more.
The ending was very easy to see coming, to the point where I wish it had subverted my expectations. The few little narrative twists didn't alter the obvious outcome, and again, personally I would have preferred it to end differently. I would have liked for it to surprise me, but maybe I'm being unreasonable.
I did look up whether there are multiple endings, but there is only one. Probably for the best, though it does make the morality system feel less important than I thought it was. I guess there's nothing wrong with having systems simply for the role-playing aspect. I am a little surprised they didn't do any romance mechanics, but perhaps that was for the best.
If they do a sequel I'm curious enough to check it out, but for now I'm just glad to have one more game out of my backlog. Though there's still so many more I should go back and finish...
