Beware! Secrets below!
My name originates from a character I created for RP in the mid 00s. At that time I hadn't yet realised I was trans, but as I kept playing this character, and became more comfortable expressing myself as a woman, things started to fall into place for me.
I felt more comfortable, more confident, more like I was truly being myself. It was literally life-changing. Fittingly my character was male at the start, but I swapped her gender because I felt it would be more interesting. At first it was just play pretend, trying to see a different perspective, but then it turned into "actually, this is what I really want to be".
And I liked the name so much I decided to make it my real one as well.
(Though Varewulf is even older, from the late 90s, when on mIRC I had to come up with a nickname that was very unlikely to be taken on any servers I visited. So I fused the Norwegian "varulv" with the English "werewolf", and that's been my thing everywhere ever since. It can sometimes be awkward to tell people my email address.)
