That's an electric five-stringed violin, styled to look a bit like a Flying V guitar. The extra string is tuned to a low C, so it has the range of a viola plus a violin in one instrument. I'd have to see the instrument itself to figure out whether it's set up for fiddle or violin (the difference is mostly technique, but some aspects of the setup can be changed to favor one technique over another).
