Honestly, I think FFXIV is just so full of cool little details, like how it keeps referencing what you've done elsewhere in the game.
For instance I have an officer rank in Limsa Lominsa's Maelstrom grand company, and whenever someone from there meets me, they address me as Lieutenant Wulf, no matter what the quest is.
And the time I was interacting with one of my crafting teachers in the MSQ, he recognised me, and asked if I'd come to show him something I'd made.
The game is just full of little references like this to tell you that the world remembers you.
